NMRT stands for Neuro-Musclular Restoration Therapy. When our muscles have too much tension, they compromise the peripheral pain nerves and cause pain in the body. When we have healthy muscles they are more pliable and soft, therefore allowing the nerves to freely communicate with the cerebellum and pass nerve pulses without interruption. When a muscle has too much tension, it compromises the nerves and will bring on a vast number of problems such as, numbness, tingling, carpal tunnel, sciatica, cricks in the neck, neck pain, back pain, osteoarthritis and body misalignment just to name a few.
Our body is composed of two thirds muscle, yet most people do not recognize that muscle pain in our bodies are is from the simple fact that we have tight, overtoned, overused tense muscles that irritate our delicate nervous system. Unfortunately we are prescribed drugs or surgeries that sometimes do not help or sometimes make the problem worse. The simple conclusion is to treat the muscle itself.
When your muscles feel good, they have a healthy amount of tension, this is important to holding the structure of your body. When you have too much muscle tension it creates pain as the hard muscles press on the delicate pain nerves.
Your cerebellum controls the involuntary tone/tension in our bodies. It is receiving constant feedback from the tiny nerve organs distributed throughout the skeletal muscles called muscle spindles. When there is a breakdown in communication it will interfere with the feedback to the cerebellum. In turn, it orders more tension to the muscle, beginning a vicious cycle of spastic tight muscles.
NMRT gets to the root of the issue that causes pain by “pressing the reset button.” and cleaning up the feedback nerves strengthening the signal to the brain. With this specific technique the muscles are given a new signal to relax, lengthen and heal, restoring hard muscles to a relaxed and lengthened state. This happens layer by layer allowing the muscles to relax naturally, by speaking the language of the nervous system.
About the treatment
The treatment is done over clothing on a massage table (or chair if needed.)
NMRT uses a specific vibrational device called the Biopulser as well as a precise hand technique designed to stimulate the muscles spindles and correct the malfunction of the feedback loop to the cerebellum, the reset button!
A little more…
Developed by Dr. Thomas Griner in the 1960's and 70's, he found a needle in a haystack, the action of rebooting the muscle to default settings. Dr Griner took a scientific approach, looking at the physiology of muscles through the mind of an engineer. The technique resulting in the reversal of the neurophysiology process that causes our muscles to be in a state of spasticity.
I have studied with Thomas Griner since 2011.
About the owner, Jordan
Jordan Osborn was born and raised in Southern California. She began a career as a professional ballet dancer at the age of 19 with the Texas Ballet Theatre. Her love of movement and discipline of the body also led her to receiving a certification in Pilates.
After retiring from the dance world at the age of 24 her artistic pursuits led her to graduating with an Associate's Degree from the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, California. After leaving the culinary world, she continued with her quest of living a healthy life in the study of muscle therapy and obtaining her Massage Therapy License. She studied under Dr. Thomas Griner for 10 years learning specific techniques to help people restore their bodies and stay out of pain.
Jordan is an experienced practitioner working with a variety of all ages, injuries, issues, and fitness backgrounds. Her technique called Neruo-Muscular Restoration Therapy, NMRT gets to the root of the issue that causes pain, providing relief when nothing else seems to work.
